Kansai Scene Business Matters

Vital Connections: Building your network in Japan

Relocating to a foreign country is never easy, particularly to Japan, with its own unique challenges to overcome. Being able to survive in this special part of the world is one thing, but succeeding in business is another. Both "survival" & "success" depend equally on what kind of network you are able to build, but most importantly, how you leverage it.

Speaking as a Singaporean that has lived and worked in Kansai for the past 3 and half years years, Tong will share with us how he has managed to build and leverage his own "Guan xi" (関係, connections or relationships) particularly in his career & business after arriving in a new country. Join Tong to learn networking skills for improving your career and life in Japan.

About Kansai Scene Business Matters (join Facebook group)

The Kansai Scene Business Matters group has been created to provide a platform for local business owners, entrepreneurs and anyone else doing business in Kansai to meet and exchange ideas. We are an international group and welcome all ages and nationalities.

We aim to engage and connect the local business community by staging networking events, seminars and presentations on a wide range of topics.

The idea and name come directly from the Business Matters section in Kansai Scene. Each issue we focus on a different industry from the point-of-view of either a company or individual engaged within it.

While there are already several business and network groups to be found in Kansai, no to mention the excellent Chambers of Commerce, it was felt that groups aimed more directly at small business owners were few and far between.

We have set up a Facebook Group that everyone is welcome to join and keep up-to-date with upcoming events. Since we want this to be a community-driven group, we really want to hear what topics for presentations or seminars you would like to see introduced as part of our future calendar. Similarly, if you would like to make your own presentation to our group, please get in touch with us.
